BEECH GROVE LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL

FAQ Registration

+ My child is eligible for more than one division. Which level should I register for?
If your child is new to baseball, it's probably best to start at the lower division. You can always email us at [email protected] and we can give you a recommendation based on age and experience. If you register for the lower division and your child shows a higher level of ability during the pre-season skills assessment, we will talk with you about the possibility of moving them up.

+ Can my child play up or down a level?
Players can play up if their skill level allows them. The Board of Directors will approve or deny requests to play up based on the players experience, skill level demonstrated and recommendations from coaches. Playing down a level is typically discouraged to avoid excessive age gaps within the division and to ensure players are with their peers. We understand there may be special circumstances where it would be appropriate and advisable for the player to play down a level, and each request will be considered carefully.

+ Why is my child on a waitlist?
Registration is open for as many teams as we have volunteer coaches. When there are significantly more registrations than there are volunteers, a waitlist will be started so that we can ensure teams do not become so big that players lose time on the field. The best way to ensure your player is not waitlisted is to volunteer to coach a team because the more coaches we have, the more teams we can open!

+ What is the registration fee paying for? And why are some divisions a different price?
Registration fees cover your player’s hat and jersey, a snack and small drink after each game, team equipment, the Little League Charter fee, injury and liability insurance, umpire fees, park utilities and field maintenance. Tee Ball is our lowest cost division because there are no umpires, catcher’s gear isn’t needed and there are fewer games due to not having a tournament.

+ Is there a discount for siblings?
Yes! The first player will be charged at full price, then there is a price break for each additional player.

+ Can my child play on a team with their family member?
Siblings in the same division will always be placed together on a team unless the family requests otherwise. If requested, cousins will be placed together whenever possible, as long as teams are able to remain even.

+ Can my child play on a team with their friend?
After the skills assessment (Spring season only), we divide the players up based on skill level to try and create an even playing field. We do take requests, but we do not guarantee they will be honored. Requests should be made as early as possible.

+ Can we request our child’s coach?
Requests will be taken, but we do not guarantee they will be honored.

+ When do we find out what team my child is on?
Division drafts are scheduled in the week after the player evaluations. Families will be contacted by their coach within the next week after drafts. If you have not heard from a coach by the end of Spring Break, please contact us.
