Beech Grove Little League's mission is to positively impact our youth and community, using the power of baseball to teach life lessons and sportsmanship. We believe this league is for the children, with a priority on having fun while building confidence and strong character. Thank you for committing to demonstrating and teaching these values as a positive role model for our kids.
Role
As a coach, your primary task is to teach the fundamentals of baseball/softball to your players in a safe, positive and fun manner. You are expected to model and teach good sportsmanship to help turn our young athletes into outstanding community members.
You will be the main contact between the league and your players and their parents. At times we will ask for your assistance for various league events and fundraisers which are vital to the operations of the league. We do understand that this requires additional effort on your part but without it these events or fundraisers would not be successful and in turn, the league itself would not be able to continue.
Requirements
Each coach must pass a background check paid for by the league. Each coach must also complete the Little League Abuse Awareness Training. Both the background check and the training must be completed every year someone volunteers to coach.
At least one coach from each team must attend the coaches meeting before the season begins. All coaches for each team are encouraged to attend.
Selection of coaches
Coaches are appointed by the President and confirmed by the board. Coaches will be selected based on those that will best represent the league value's in character and behavior. Coaches are not tenured or guaranteed a position regardless of previous years coaching.
How to Apply
If you would like to be either a head coach or an assistant coach, you will complete a volunteer application using the same account you used to register your child. If you do not have a child playing, you can create an account for yourself to apply as a volunteer. You will answer a few questions about criminal history and upload a copy of your government issued ID. A Board Member will review your application, and if approved, you will receive an email from JDPalantine with a link to complete your background check.
